This summer, enter the world of the butterfly by entering into a free flight aviary containing hundreds of live butterflies native to North America! Meet monarchs, painted ladies, red admirals, queens, and swallowtails, just to name a few.

Because it focuses on invertebrates, the Butterfly Pavilion is an entirely new concept for the Zoo. Insects represent the largest proportion of life on earth, but they are rarely displayed in zoos. We are breaking the mold to present the true balance of life on earth!

We were proud to receive a grant from the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum to assist
with the Multi-lingual Interpretation Project. The translations were provided by
Lincoln Public Schools.
